Fifteen Standards of Care
Who Care Certificate training is for
- Anyone starting out in health and social care
- Managers responsible for getting new starters through their induction
- Care homes, domiciliary care, supported living, hospices and NHS teams
How the standards are taken
- A single standard where someone needs to fill a gap
- The full set as one course for a new starter
Each standard is a course in its own right, so a plan can follow what a person actually does.
A sensible way to choose
The Care Certificate is an induction standard, so the usual question is whether someone needs the whole thing or one part of it.
New to care
Someone in their first weeks in post works through all fifteen standards. The full set is available as one course.
Filling a gap
An experienced worker who needs one area refreshed takes that standard on its own, for example safeguarding or infection control.
Evidence it happened
Every completion issues a dated certificate, and The Globe LMS records it, so an inspection has something to look at.
One category does not need to mean one plan
Different roles can take different Care Certificate courses through The Globe LMS. If your requirements cross several categories, browse the full course catalogue or use the course builder for company specific learning.
What the law says, and what it costs
The law in its own words, and the scale of the problem in HSE's. We quote both word for word, so you can check them.
Persons employed by the service provider must “receive such appropriate support, training, professional development, supervision and appraisal as is necessary to enable them to carry out the duties they are employed to perform”
Figures: Health and Safety Executive, key figures for Great Britain. Great Britain, all industries, as published by HSE. Quoted as published, with the reporting year shown. The full set, with the sources for each, is on our UK workplace safety statistics page.
Common questions
Straight answers for buyers planning Care Certificate training.
What is the Care Certificate?
The Care Certificate is the agreed set of fifteen standards that new health and social care workers in England are expected to meet in their first weeks in post. Skills for Care, Skills for Health and Health Education England developed it.
Which Care Certificate courses are available?
All fifteen standards are available as individual courses, from Understand your role through to Infection prevention and control, plus the full set as a single course. The list above links every one.
Does this training complete the Care Certificate on its own?
No, and no online course can. Employers assess the Care Certificate in the workplace. The learning covers the knowledge, and an assessor still has to observe the person doing the job. This gives you the knowledge half, and the record that someone completed it.
How is it delivered and what does it cost?
The Globe LMS delivers it online, self paced on any device, and dates a certificate on completion. We quote for what your team needs. Once we know your requirements, we find the best value option for you.
