The Globe holds every training record an organisation has, including training that happened elsewhere. It also hands that data to whatever systems you already run. This page describes what an administrator can actually do.
Integrations through the Developer API
The Globe has an API so your own systems can talk to the platform directly. Most organisations use it for two things. The first is creating users automatically from an HR system, so a new starter has their training waiting. Second, these integrations pull results into their own reporting, so nobody retypes anything.
What these integrations cover
The fourteen endpoints available today:
health and key checkorganisation attributescreate a userall usersuser by IDread a user's attributesupdate a user's attributesactivate a userdeactivate a userresults by userresults by courseall available coursessubscribed coursescourse by IDTrying it without writing code
The API console lists every endpoint, runs a real call against your account when you paste in your key, and shows the exact address it called. Pick an endpoint and it lists the parameters, marks the mandatory ones, and gives you an editable example body with a live preview of exactly what your call will send. It will also write the same call out as code in your choice of language, ready to hand to a developer.

An API key identifies your account, so treat it like a password. Keys are self service. An administrator generates one under Account Settings and it lasts a year. If somebody ever shares it by mistake, that administrator can revoke and replace it in one click.
API keys for your integrations look after themselves
The Globe handles the key lifecycle on your own account, without a support conversation for any of it.
Issued by you
An administrator generates a key under Account Settings. No request to us, no waiting.
Expiring on schedule
Every key lasts one year, so a forgotten key stops working on its own instead of living forever.
Revocable in one click
Shared by mistake, or a contractor moved on: revoke the key and generate a fresh one immediately.
A history you can audit
The history shows every key ever issued, with its status, created and expiry dates, and the date of any revocation.
Training that did not happen on the platform
The Globe can record classroom sessions, toolbox talks and courses taken with a previous provider, with their certificates. Your reports then cover that training as well as the eLearning, and none of it needs any integrations.
Where the subject matches one of our courses you can link the two. The person keeps the training they already hold, and The Globe prompts them to take ours when it expires. Moving provider then happens gradually, as each existing result expires.
The training matrix
Course reports export two ways. Either a full CSV of every result, or a colour coded training matrix as an Excel workbook. Filters apply to the export, so what you searched is what you get.
Every row is a person and every column a course. The first columns carry name, email, entity, location, department, role and any custom fields, each filterable. A completed cell shows the expiry date, so the matrix tells you who is about to fall out of date as well as who is still in date. The workbook includes its own key:
| Not started | Enrolled but has not begun the course. |
|---|---|
| Not started, again | Previously completed, then restarted or reassigned. |
| In progress | Started but not yet finished. |
| Passed | Completed. The cell shows the expiry date. |
| Expiring | Completed but due again soon, with the expiry date shown. |
| Failed | The most recent attempt was unsuccessful. |
| Not assigned | The course is not assigned to that person. |

Seeing what people actually do
Course reports say what people have completed. Activity tracking says what is happening: total logins, course activities, all tracked actions and how many individual people have been active. It plots the same period as charts, breaks it down by type, and filters by activity, course, user or date. Charts download as an image and the data as CSV.

Getting your people in
In bulk
If you would rather not wire up the integrations, download the user template, fill it in, and import it. You see a preview before The Globe creates anything. Everyone arrives as a standard user, and you grant admin rights afterwards to the people who need them.
Grouped the way you are
Entity, location, department and role are yours to define, with custom fields on top. They drive who gets what and how reports break down. Entity also sets the company name printed on the certificate, which matters if several companies share one account.
Common questions about integrations
Does The Globe have an API?
Yes. The Globe has a Developer API that lets your own systems talk to the platform directly. The two most common uses are creating users automatically from an HR system, and pulling training results into your own reporting so nobody has to retype anything. Both integrations run against your own account. Keys are self service: an administrator generates one under Account Settings, it lasts a year, and that administrator can revoke it at any time.
Can we record training that happened outside the platform?
Yes. External Results lets an administrator add results and certificates for training delivered face to face or as a toolbox talk, so it appears in the same reports as eLearning. Where the subject matches one of our courses you can link the two, and The Globe prompts the person to take our course when their existing result expires.
Can we export a training matrix?
Yes. Course reports export either a full CSV of every result or a colour coded training matrix as an Excel workbook. Every row is a person and every column a course. A completed cell shows the expiry date, so you can see who is about to fall out of date as well as who is still in date.
Can we add a lot of users at once?
Yes. Download the bulk user template, fill it in and import it. The system previews the file before it creates anything. The import creates bulk uploaded users as standard users, and you grant admin rights afterwards to whoever needs them.
Can we group users by site or department?
Yes. You set Entity, Location, Department and Role on your account, and you can add custom fields on top. They drive allocation and reporting, and they appear on exports. Entity also sets the company name printed on the certificate, which matters for a group of companies sharing one account.
Can we take our training to another platform?
Yes. All 120+ courses export as SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004, and so do any courses you build yourself. Training you have paid for can then run on another learning platform. We want customers to stay because the platform works for them.
Everything described here, integrations included, is from the current administrator guide for The Globe. If you need something specific, an endpoint the console does not list or a particular export, ask us on 01344 957 700. We will tell you whether it exists today.
